VISA POUR L'IMAGE | NO END IN SIGHT: CHERNOBYL 40 YEARS LATER

Seventy-four photographs from my long-term project on Chernobyl will be exhibited at Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, following the 40th anniversary of the world’s worst nuclear disaster to date.

Widely regarded as the world’s foremost festival of documentary photography and photojournalism, Visa attracts more than 200,000 visitors and some 2,500 photography professionals from around the globe for exhibitions, portfolio reviews, professional gatherings, awards, and nightly outdoor screenings.

Titled No End in Sight: Chernobyl 40 Years Later, my exhibition presents photographs taken across four decades in and around the Exclusion Zone, documenting the disaster’s aftermath and the countless lives profoundly shaped by it. The photographs bear witness to suffering, loss and delusions in the wake of a manmade catastrophe whose impact on people and the environment will persist far beyond our lifetimes. I regard the work as a warning to human hubris that not everything that is technologically possible is also wise.
