Call for Entry: 2025 Global Peace Photo Award
The Global Peace Photo Award has extended its deadline to accept entries until June 1st, 2025. This prestigious prize seeks to recognize and celebrate images that depict peace in the broadest sense of the word. Photographers from all corners of the world are invited to submit their work, capturing their individual interpretation of "what peace looks like".

The Global Peace Photo Award’s panel of judges includes Peter-Matthias Gaede, the renowned editor of GEO Magazine; Lars Boering, the Director European Journalism Centre (EJC) and former Managing Director of World Press Photo; Lois Lammerhuber, a publisher, photographer, and founder of the GPPA; among others. Gerd Ludwig has been serving on the Award Jury since its inception in 2013 and is honored to have the opportunity to select images that serve such a meaningful purpose.
In partnership with world-renowned organizations including the European Journalism Centre (EJC), UNESCO, and International Press Institute (IPI), the award is open to both amateur and professional photographers, and there is no entry fee. The top five submissions will receive the Alfred Fried Peace Medal at the award ceremony in Vienna, Austria, in September 2025. The winner of the Peace Image of the Year will be awarded a cash prize of €7,000 and their image will be displayed in the Austrian Parliament for one year before being added to its Permanent Collection.
Children aged 14 and under are also encouraged to participate in the contest, with a separate category for the Children's Peace Image of the Year. The winner of this category will receive a cash prize of €1,000 and an invitation to attend the award ceremony in Vienna.
Other categories will receive the following awards:
3 winners in the Stories category will each receive € 1,000
1 winner in the Single Picture category receives € 1,000
The winning pictures and a best-of the-shortlist have been shown at the Festival La Gacilly-Baden Photo with over 300,000 visitors.
