Ai-Ap Profiles Gerd Ludwig

Ai-Ap, an organization dedicated to the promotion and development of visual arts, focusing on photography and illustration, recently began publishing a series of artist profiles. David Schonauer interviewed Gerd Ludwig and wrote an in-depth profile on Gerd's personal history and the motivation behind his documentary work.

While exploring Gerd's work both in the former Soviet Union, and his long term project in Chernobyl specifically, Schonauer writes: "...his approach to documentary photography, learned over many years of photographing people in distress, is also founded on an instinct that is fundamentally human in nature."
