Internship Opportunities

Gerd Ludwig Photography Internship Opportunities

Have a passion for documentary photography?

Interested in learning the in-and-outs of running a successful photography business?

Throughout the year, Gerd Ludwig accepts qualified interns to help run day-to-day operations in the office and experience the behind-the-scenes aspects of working as a National Geographic photographer.

The position is open to extremely responsible, committed, organized, detail oriented, and highly motivated students. Interns will assist Gerd Ludwig and his studio manager in scanning, color correction, caption writing, research, basic office maintenance, and picture editing. Interns will also get the opportunity to assist Gerd in the field on local personal projects. Interns must be knowledgeable in 35mm digital photography and have a high level of Photoshop and computer skills. Writing skills are a plus. International students welcome, provided a solid fluency in English.

Internships generally last 6 to 10 weeks, but may be extended. In lieu of payment, interns are provided a furnished guest room in Gerd’s home in Los Angeles. The room has an attached private bathroom, and interns have full access to the kitchen, office, and common areas of the house.

As part of the internship, Gerd Ludwig will be available for help with personal projects, portfolio editing, and will challenge interns with their own photography career. It is suggested that interns bring their own camera equipment, and find a subject to photograph outside of office hours.

To apply, please send a teacher recommendation, cover-letter, and resumé (including a detailed list of computer programs and equipment you are proficient using) to: [email protected] with the subject “Internship”.

Please be advised that due to Gerd’s intense international travel schedule for 2013, we will not be accepting any internship positions for the remainder of this year.
