TOSCANA PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOP IN ITALY

July / 19 / 2007

The Toscana Photographic Workshop (TPW) is hosting Gerd Ludwig and former National Geographic Director of Photography, Kent Kobersteen for a week long workshop in Tuscany, Italy on July 15- 21, 2007. Advanced photographers who want to take their editorial or personal work to the next level, will be exposed to the techniques and approaches photographers use in the field to create work for National Geographic Magazine and other publications, including the research of topics, photographing people in an intimate fashion, taking editorial photographs that communicate emotionally, and using aesthetics in a sophisticated manner. They will also discuss business aspects of photography, such as creating a strong portfolio, approaching editors and getting assignments, finding the right agency, developing a lasting relationship with a publication, and photography in the electronic age. Ludwig and Kobersteen have collaborated as photographer and director of photography on many National Geographic stories. Their professional relationship offers the students a varied and realistic perspective on the business of editorial photography and on each student’s photographic work.
